The Autret Family Legacy Session

Legacy Sessions always make me emotional! I love witnessing the dynamics between children and their grandparents. I was invited to visit with the Autret Family; Lionel and Maya and their three children Raphael, Camille and Leyla at their beautiful home in Essex Fells to do a Legacy Session with their grandparents.

Their Roseland Avenue home is a historic fixture in the town and getting to photograph the interior was exciting in and of itself. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and ornate details and now of course with the warm touch of the Autret’s. The girls happily showed me around their home and their rooms and I immediately fell in love with the space. The Autret’s love to read and do puzzles so it is no wonder they have an extensive collection of books that is mesmerizing to the eye. I loved shooting in the library room with the girls!

They showed me how they tackle a puzzle which when tasked with these tiny pieces is incredibly daunting. I am used to 50 piece puzzles with large pieces! It was fun to watch their minds and hands at work having to work together to find connections. They all speak the most beautiful French and though I understood none of it, I was hypnotized by their conversation and it truly made me feel like a fly on the wall which always allows for more intimate images. Below are a smattering of my favorite images from our time together.

Thank you Autrets for choosing me to capture this time in your lives!
