Childhood Unplugged – October 2013

I am thrilled to have been asked to be a part of this amazing project “Childhood Unplugged”. How often in our busy lives do we hand our children off to the world of electronics… iPads, TV and the like. Though I try not to do it often, during the work week it becomes more difficult. Every month I plan to collaborate with my children and photograph them doing something they love or something that excites them having nothing to do with being “plugged in”. I hope you enjoy these photographs. I certainly look forward to next months!

The Inspirations: Every once in a while I come across something that inspires me. Sometimes it is a piece of art or a photo on Instagram. Sometimes it is a quote or even a commercial. Recently I found myself incredibly moved by a trail I saw in the woods as I was driving. I was encouraged by someone to use this inspiration and create.

So I asked my daughter Ava if she would collaborate with me and she happily obliged for some candy. Win/win. The second bit of inspiration was this vintage dress I bought her months ago at a consignment store. She selected the flower headband, the guitar, her favorite doll and the tiara… And away we went.

Here are some of my favorite images from this shoot. I hope you enjoy!
