Happy 1st Birthday to my sweet baby girl Taylor Ash! She is the definition of Childhood Unplugged, untainted by electronics and thrilled to explore the simplest of things! I learn from her everyday as I am reminded to stop, take a deep breath and relish in the magic of the mundane. She has changed our family make up for the better and has brought so much joy to us all

At 12 months you crawl kind of like an ape which makes us all laugh. Never on all fours like a normal crawl, you scoot with one hand and have gotten pretty good at moving fast. You are no where near walking and as the third child I am 100 percent ok with that. You say “Lyla” most often, “dada” next. You have started to say “mama” but reserve it for when I really need to kiss and smoosh you all over. You have what we call an “evil” laugh that comes out when you play chase with Ava and your sisters make you SO happy. When daddy walks in the room, the whole world stops. You are a daddy’s girl through and through. You have him wrapped around your finger and can do no wrong in his eyes… trust me 🙂

We love you so very much!!! You have the blondest hair and SO much of it in comparison to your sisters at this age. You eat EVERYTHING and do sign language for “more” and “all done”.

You love books and playing with the air vents most… the brown bar that closes the sliding doors as well. You carry it around with you and its about 4 feet long so it looks pretty funny!

You had the cutest smash cake party on your birthday with a cake made by a friend and surrounded by your family. We put you in the Cusak’s ice bucket for a bath after which you liked the most! We danced to your favorite song on the planet, “strut” by the cheetah girls. HA!

You are the bestest and the mostest Taylor! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

This Family Film makes me laugh out loud! Being a film maker behind the scenes with the Whited boys at our Spring session in their home in Miami, FL was so much fun. I love being a witness to these two brothers and their incredible friendship. They play and play and play and play fight and it is so much fun to watch. Capturing their joy and silliness behind the scenes was so much fun!

Childhood Unplugged at Applegate Farms in Montclair, New Jersey!

This outdoor oasis  in the middle of the beautiful town of Montclair houses some of the most delicious ice cream you could possibly imagine. Baby Taylor enjoyed her very first cup of soft serve vanilla ice cream which landed mostly on her legs and all over the floor but I believe it is a right of passage for every wee one to use ice cream in place of soap at least once in their lifetime. The summer months are the best. Long and warm and filled with little adventures and lots of treats. There is a freeing feeling in the month of July. Maybe because of the pride we all have for our country as we celebrate our nations independence! Thank you to the men and women who have served our country and have contributed to our freedom!

A trip to Applegate Farms, Montclair NJ

April’s Childhood Unplugged day allowed for us to celebrate spring at its finest here in the Northeast! Every April the Cherry Blossom trees in New Jersey bloom, providing a gorgeous pink view above and a snow flurry of pink petals below. It is always breath taking and almost dream like to see these pink trees for what seems like miles. We took the kids to Verona Park to check them out and not only did they love that they could climb on some of the lower ones and perch themselves comfortably and without fear to play, but also the rows of yellow dandelions  and those pretty little purple weeds that look like tiny lilacs!! Baby Taylor got a kick out of the grass on her feet and the petals everywhere. She sat happily watching Ava & Lyla playing in the grass while the wind blew through her baby hair. There is a beautiful water fall there and a brook that leads to it that almost calls to you because it looks as if you can climb down and back up if you wanted to.

I am so happy to have these monthly photos of these children and I love exploring our own town month over month!

You can see how the kids have grown year over year by viewing Childhood Unplugged from May 2016, May 2015 and April 2014.
Childhood Unplugged May 2017

Childhood Unplugged, West Palm Beach style…. We usually take a trip to visit my family in West Palm Beach, FL in late April, but this year my husbands Godchild Adelia was baptized in March and so we planned an earlier trip. The weather was perfection with long sunny days with a breeze climbing to the low 80’s during the day and the low 70’s at night. We spent every day with my family at the clubhouse pool, swimming, eating, lounging and just enjoying each others company. It was one of the BEST trips yet despite Lyla getting sick.. again. I love this first photo of Ava so much because it reminds me so much of my own childhood. I remember the feeling of the crisp water all around me in the summer time and how freeing it was. I like to think she has the same experience when surrounded by water.

You can see how much the kids have grown by checking out the last few years of April entries!

For Childhood Unplugged this month, the incredible fashionista Melissa Adler from Dirt and Noise Kids was kind enough to sponsor my efforts to get my kids out and about and unplugged. She outfitted our tribe in some of the cutest digs!! (You can find everything at her boutique in Montclair or online!) We decided there was no reason her two boys shouldn’t come along for some good clean adventures featuring records, cozy couches and a general desire to have fun!
